I exist, as long as my body remembers
It remembers the taste of the sea,
before the sea touches
It remembers the taste of you inside, even if you are no longer there
Two bodies
hidden
under the veil of memory, protected
When we leave, I will lose you
Two bodies moving through memories
ghosts of bodies they touched,
they desired,
they have forgotten
They come out to touch me
Tough hands, shy hands, awkward
All there
Piles of bone and flesh, these hands that touched me, define who I am
And in these piles, I find your hands
Touch me, so I can remember
Because as long as I remember,
I exist

Project Description
A video art piece conceptualised, filmed & written by Raisa Desypri.
Sound composition by Dimitra Sofroniou
Montage by Vasilia So
The work is based on the Greek word play μνήμα(mnima - grave) which etymologically derives from the same root as memory and the word σώμα (some - body).
The work explores the concept of the embodiment of memory and the role of the body as a carrier of remembrance.
Drawing from the embodiment theory, and considering the body as a mobile home carrying the physical interactions of its owner from the past, to the present, to the future.
