FILMS

I work as a film editor and video artist in various projects.

My work extends to live visuals, video installations and multimedia projects, demonstrating versatility in both linear and non-linear storytelling.

I primarily work with archival footage, which aligns with my artistic practice focused on memory and identity. This approach allows me to recontextualize the past and explore its impact on the present.

I exist, as long as my body remembers
It remembers the taste of the sea,
    before the sea touches
It remembers the taste of you inside, even if you are no longer there
    Two bodies
    hidden
under the veil of memory, protected
When we leave, I will lose you
    Two bodies moving through memories
    ghosts of bodies they touched,
    they desired,
    they have forgotten
They come out to touch me
    Tough hands, shy hands, awkward
    All there
Piles of bone and flesh, these hands that touched me, define who I am
And in these piles, I find your hands
Touch me, so I can remember
Because as long as I remember,
    I exist

    Project Description
A video art piece conceptualised, filmed & written by Raisa Desypri.

    Sound composition by Dimitra Sofroniou

    Montage by Vasilia So

The work is based on the Greek word play μνήμα(mnima - grave) which etymologically derives from the same root as memory and the word σώμα (some - body).

The work explores the concept of the embodiment of memory and the role of the body as a carrier of remembrance.

Drawing from the embodiment theory, and considering the body as a mobile home carrying the physical interactions of its owner from the past, to the present, to the future.

Hammers, broken glass, knives, metallic sounds, vibrating membranes, stones and recording material from everyday objects come together to a music piece that describes the human life on earth. Birth, life, death. A moment on a planet that is alive, pretty, ugly, scary, beautiful, bright and dark with an accompanied video looking at different abstract structures fitted and unfitted into these moments.

    ‘29’

    Project Description
‘29’ consists of six independent narratives that unfold in waiting areas.

The starting point for this work is a specific part of my everyday life, that of waiting. It changes in duration, place and type, but each time it puts me in a certain state: trying to fool time and make it pass a little faster.

In this way, then, I start to observe what is happening during this integral part of my routine. In familiar, everyday places, people go by who you might look at but not see.

Their movements, my movements, awkwardness or routine are elements that make up the landscape of waiting. Within this condition, people’s details reveal themselves and create fragments of each person’s story.

    Their forms mirror myself.
